Every month we select an athlete that demonstrates exceptional dedication, positivity, and support toward their fellow athletes and community. Our featured “Athlete of the Month” for September 2019 is coach Carola!
This is Carola…
What’s your athletic background?
I was always rather lazy. Besides running with the dogs and playing with the children I did not much until the age of 40. Then I started running and indoor cycling and strength training in the gym.
What was your first experience with CrossFit?
A trial session which my daughter arranged for us. Before that I had never heard of crossfit.
When did you start CrossFit?
Five years ago.
Why did you choose CrossFit Schaffhausen?
The variety of the training I liked from the beginning (only the English sometimes still annoys me a bit 😉 ) In addition to that, I like the good atmosphere and our great coach.
What keeps you coming back?
The feeling after the workout.
How do you like to spend your free time?
If I have free time, I like to read or watch nordic crime stories, spending time with the family, indoor cycling, yoga and babysitting.
What are one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CrossFit?
I have no back pain anymore! I feel stronger, healthier and have a more positive attitude towards my body. In addition, my endurance has improved a lot. And I have met many nice people, where the relationship goes beyond training.
What are your goals for the next twelve months?
Two pull ups 🙂 and double unders.
What would you say to someone thinking about starting CrossFit?
Start immediately, no matter how fit you feel. Many of whom I talk to have the feeling that they first have to get fitter and then go to Crossfit.
What’s your favorite & least favorite CrossFit movement?
My most favourite ones are sit-ups and burpees. My least favourite one are thrusters.
What’s your favorite cheat meal?
Vanilla ice cream and hot berries WITH chocolate sauce. AND petit beurre!
Anything else you would like to share with the CrossFit Schaffhausen family?
I am happy to be part of the community!
